FIRST RELIGIOUS PROFESSION OF 15 SCALABRINIANS IN CEBU

Scalabrini Novitiate, Cebu, Philippines.

On June 7, 2024, fifteen Scalabrinian novices professed their first profession of religious vows on the occasion of the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus at the chapel of Scalabrini Novitiate House, San Carlos Heights, Pardo 6000 Cebu City, Philippines. The holy mass started at 9am presided by Fr. Martin Ignacio Gutierrez, CS, the Provincial Superior of St. Frances X. Cabrini and he received the vows of these fifteen Scalabrinian novices. Concelebrated with him were Fr. John Thiet, the novice master, five other Scalabrinian priests, and 10 other religious and diocesan priests in some parishes and religious communities nearby.

Attending the first profession, there were parents and relatives of the newly professed coming Vietnam as well as many friends and youth coming from different parts of Cebu and Bohol. The mass was broadcasted online for their family members in Indonesia and Vietnam. In the homily, Fr. Provincial reminded the newly professed about the importance of three religious vows: poverty, chastity, and obedience in the life of Scalabrinian missionary. He encouraged them to live their vows following the footsteps of St. Scalabrini to love the Lord in serving the migrants.

After the mass, there was a simply celebration at the Cabana of the Novitiate House where some songs and dances were performed to congratulate the newly professed brothers. The celebration ended with the blessing of Fr. Provincial.

Let us continue praying for these newly professed brothers that they may be faithful to the vows that they professed.

May Mother Mary, Mother of vocations, be their guide and help.

May the Sacred Heart of Jesus be their love always.

St. Scalabrini – pray for us.
