Courage to Commit: Perpetual Vows of Two Scalabrinian Brothers

The Congregation of the Missionaries of St. Charles – Scalabrinians, within the St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Province (Australia–Asia), rejoiced with profound gratitude as it witnessed the Perpetual Profession of Vows of two of its dedicated members: Br. Peter Bui Van Ha, CS and Br. Klaudius Heronimus Luruk, CS.

The solemn celebration took place on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at the Scalabrini Theological House of Studies (STHS) in New Manila, Quezon City, with Rev. Fr. Martin Ignacio Gutiérrez, CS, Provincial Superior, serving as the main presider.

Rooted in Christ: “Remain in Me” (John 15:4)

The celebration was deeply anchored in the biblical theme, “Remain in me” (John 15:4). This passage illuminated the spiritual journey of the brothers as they professed their lifelong commitment to religious life and to the Scalabrinian charism. By embracing the vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience, they expressed their desire to stay in constant communion with Christ—allowing His love to bear fruit in their mission, particularly in service to migrants, refugees, and all those affected by human mobility.

A Lifelong Commitment

During the rite of profession, Fr. Martin Gutiérrez, CS, officially received the perpetual vows of Br. Peter and Br. Klaudius, welcoming them into the permanent embrace of the Congregation. In his homily, the Provincial Superior reminded the brothers and the community that perpetual profession is not a conclusion but a profound new beginning, a total offering of oneself to God. This commitment strengthens them to embody the missionary zeal of St. Charles Scalabrini, bringing hope, compassion, and accompaniment to people on the move across the vast Australia–Asia region and beyond.

Answering the Call to Mission

The entire Scalabrinian family expresses heartfelt gratitude to all who joined the celebration, whether in person or from afar. The perpetual profession of Br. Ha and Br. Klaudius stands as a powerful witness to the enduring vitality of the Scalabrinian mission and the ever-present call of Christ in the hearts of young men today.

With joy and fraternal pride, we congratulate Br. Peter Bui Van Ha, CS and Br. Klaudius Heronimus Luruk, CS, praying that they may continue to live their perpetual commitment with fidelity, enthusiasm, and unwavering dedication to God’s people on the move.
