CS Philippines: Four Scalabrinian Brothers Take Their Perpetual Profession

Manila, November 9, 2024

On the evening of November 9, 2024, the Feast of the Lateran Basilica, a deeply significant event took place at the Scalabrini Theological House of Studies in New Manila, Philippines. At 6:00 PM (Manila Time), Br. Eduardo Lupercio Preciado, CS, Br. To Van Binh, CS, Br. Pham Van Chuong, CS, and Br. Vu Ngoc Khanh, CS made their perpetual profession of vows, committing themselves for life to the Scalabrinian Congregation and its mission to serve migrants, seafarers, and refugees around the world.

A Sacred Commitment

The solemn Holy Mass was presided by Fr. Martin Ignacio Gutierrez, CS, Provincial Superior of the St. Frances Cabrini Province. Together with him were Scalabrinian priests, brothers, seminarians, and a gathering of the families and friends of the four brothers. Some parents, relatives, and relatives from Vietnam traveled to attend the celebration, making it a truly international event. Many others came from across the Philippines to witness this significant moment in the lives of the four brothers.

In his homily, Fr. Gutierrez reflected on the four key dimensions of the evangelical counsels: Trinitarian, Ecclesial, Marian, and Prophetic. He encouraged the brothers to dedicate themselves to becoming witnesses of God’s love for His people, particularly for migrants, following the footstep of St. John Baptist Scalabrini, the founder of the Scalabrinian Congregation. By making their vows, the brothers are called to live out these values in their lives and service to those in need and those whom they live with.

New Assignments

Following the perpetual profession, Fr. Leo Bobila, CS, the Rector of the Scalabrini Theological House of Studies, announced the new assignments for the four brothers. Br. Vu Ngoc Khanh, CS and Br. To Van Binh, CS were assigned to serve in the St. Frances Cabrini Province. Br. Pham Van Chuong, CS was assigned to the Saint Charles Province. Br. Eduardo Lupercio Preciado, CS was assigned to the Saint John Baptist Province.

As the four brothers embark on this new chapter of their vocations, let us keep them in our prayers. May God through the intercession of St. Scalabrini bless and guide them in their vocational journey to holiness and service to the migrants. Amen
