JOURNEY OF VOCATION: EMBRACING GOD'S CALL WITH GRATITUDE

Motto: “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.” (Col4:2)

Greetings, dear friends!

Today is a splendid day and I am filled with gratitude to God and especially my cherished family, relatives, and friends. Allow me to introduce myself. I am Jhon Marc Gil D. Gervacio, an 18-year-old Seminarian from Cadunan, Mabini, in Davao De Oro, Philippines. Currently, I reside at the Scalabrinian Seminary, located in New Manila, Quezon City, Philippines.

The pivotal moment in my life arrived when God extended His invitation, and I embraced it wholeheartedly, embarking on the journey of a Scalabrinian Seminarian from a humble peasant family. This calling brings me immense joy, fueled by my unwavering eagerness and zeal to walk in the path of God. I made this choice buoyed by the encouragement of my family, whose sacrifices and unwavering dedication to their faith inspire me to someday spread His Word to His people and those who are in need, especially the migrants, OFWs, refugees and seafarers.

I am deeply grateful to my family for imparting upon me the values of encouragement and perseverance, teaching me to confront and embrace the reality of life in each passing day. I owe a debt of gratitude to my grandparents, who instilled in my parents the significance of prayer.

Though life presents numerous challenges, I find solace in our Savior, Jesus Christ, who offers me protection, companionship, and truth. I always remind myself that God resides within me, and prayer serves as the bedrock of my faith. Therefore, I firmly believe that whatever I seek in prayer, I shall receive. Despite the inevitable trials in my journey of vocation, I steadfastly cling to my faith, carrying my cross with humility, guided by the teachings of Jesus.

It is with this conviction that I extend a heartfelt invitation to all my brethren reading this reflection, to come and bear witness to the marvels of the Scalabrinian Missionary family.

Let us together tread in the footsteps of God and spread His word to the farthest corners of the world of migration. Join us, and let us become faithful stewards of His divine mission to the migrants.
