Consecrated in Mary’s Assumption: Scalabrinian Brothers Renew Their Vows

Manila, August 15, 2025

On the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, eighteen Scalabrinian brothers joyfully renewed their vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience at the Scalabrini Theological House of Studies (STHS). The solemn celebration was presided over by Fr. Leo Bobila, CS, local superior and rector, who received their vows in the presence of Scalabrinian seminarians and missionaries in Manila.

The Holy Mass began at 6:30 p.m., with Fr. Leo as the presider. In his homily, Fr. Alvirio, CS, delivered an inspiring message, highlighting the beauty of the religious vocation and the significance of living out the vows as a concrete way of following Christ in the footsteps of St. John Baptist Scalabrini, Father of Migrants. He reminded the brothers that their vows are not only commitments to God but also expressions of love and service to the people they are called to serve.

The celebration of renewal extended beyond Manila. On the same day, Bro. Hans, currently on his pastoral year, renewed his vows in Ruteng before Fr. Yopi, CS. A day earlier, on August 14, Bro. Roni also renewed his vows with Fr. Thiet, CS, receiving them.

The renewal of vows is a cherished tradition in religious life—a sacred opportunity to rekindle one’s love for God, deepen one’s commitment, and strengthen one’s dedication to the mission. As the Scalabrinian brothers continue their journey of formation and service, they entrust themselves anew to God’s providence following their Founder St. John Baptist Scalabrini.

May the Lord, through the intercession of St. Scalabrini, keep them always as the apple of His eye, faithful and steadfast in their vocation.

May Mary, Mother of God, guide and protect them with her maternal care. Amen.
