The Scalabrinian Family gathered in great joy and thanksgiving on the solemnity of St. Scalabrini on June 1, 2026, for the Diaconate Ordination of Bro. Ha and Bro. Hendro, held at 9:00 a.m. in a celebration marked by faith, fraternity, and missionary hope. The ordination was presided over by Bishop Elias, who ordained the two Scalabrinian brothers to the Order of Deacons, entrusting them with a ministry of service to the People of God and especially to migrants and those on the move. Concelebrating the Eucharistic celebration were approximately 12 Scalabrinian priests, together with other religious and diocesan priests.

Around 250 faithful, religious, family members, and friends attended the celebration. A particularly touching presence was that of the mother, brothers and sister of Bro. Ha, who traveled from Vietnam and Japan to witness this significant milestone in his vocational journey. Their participation added a special family dimension, highlighting the sacrifices, support, and faith from the family that accompany every vocation.

The occasion carried an even deeper significance as it coincided with the Solemnity of St. John Baptist Scalabrini, the founder of the Scalabrinian Congregation and the father of migrants. The ordination on this special feast day made the event a double joy for the entire Scalabrinian Family. As the Church honored the life and mission of St. Scalabrini, it also witnessed two new ministers embracing a life of service inspired by his charism.
In his ministry as a deacon, each ordinand is called to embody Christ the Servant through the proclamation of the Gospel, service at the altar, and charitable outreach to those most in need. Their ordination is a sign of hope for the Church and a renewed commitment to the Scalabrinian mission of accompanying migrants, refugees, and people on the move.
As Bro. Ha and Bro. Hendro begin this new chapter of their vocational journey, let us keep them in prayers. May the Lord strengthen them with fidelity, humility, and zeal as they dedicate their lives to the service of God and His people under the inspiration of St. John Baptist Scalabrini.
