Renewed in Faith and Mission: Scalabrinians Reaffirm Their Vows Across the Province on the Solemnity of the Assumption

On August 15, the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Scalabrinian family gathered in joy and fraternal communion at the Scalabrini Theological House of Studies (STHS) in Manila for the renewal of religious vows of 14 Scalabrinian religious brothers.

The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Fr. Gerardo Garcia Ponce, CS, Rector of STHS, who received the vows of the religious as they reaffirmed their dedication to God and to the mission in the service of migrants, refugees, and seafarers.

The liturgy brought together the Scalabrinian communities across Manila, including the Scalabrini Formation Center (SFC) and the Scalabrini Mission House (SMH), alongside formators, seminarians, and friends.

In the same spirit of communion, four of our brothers currently undergoing their Pastoral Year also renewed their vows in their respective mission placements:

·         Maumere, Indonesia

·         Ruteng, Indonesia

·         Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam

·         Cavite, Philippines

Though separated by distance, the brothers were united as one Scalabrinian family in prayer and thanksgiving, reaffirming their commitment to live their consecration faithfully and generously in the service of people on the move.

In Prayer and Solidarity with Indonesia

During the celebration, the community united in fervent prayer for all the people of Indonesia affected by the powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck the Flores region on the morning of August 15. We held in special intention our confreres, communities, and families in the affected areas, especially Scalabrinian seminaries in Maumere and Ruteng, praying for their safety, comfort, and protection amidst the calamity. 

We accompany all our brothers with our prayers as they continue their formation, pastoral immersion, and consecrated journey. May Our Lady of the Assumption and St. John Baptist Scalabrini guide, protect, and inspire them in their vocation and mission with people on the move.
