St. Roque Parish, Mawab, Davao de Oro.

On June 15, 2024, Most Rev. Medel S. Aseo, D. D., Bishop of Tagum, ordained Rev. Dexter Ignacio, CS to the order of priesthood. Concelebrated with him were the emeritus Bishop, Most Rev. Wilfredo D. Manlapaz, D. D. and 12 priests coming from the Diocese of Tagum. From the Scalabrinian family attending the ordination, there were Fr. Leonilo Dolorito Mantilla, CS, one of the provincial councilors and some other Scalabrinian priests, two deacons, one brother, some Seminarians and some Scalabrinian sisters.

The holy mass started at 2pm with the presence of his mother, relatives, friends and many parishioners of St. Roque Parish. After the celebration, there was a dinner at the Assumption academy of Mawab near the parish. Great gratitude was attributed to Fr. Ruel Gualderama, the parish priest of St. Roque, Fr. Arman, the assistant priest, and all committees who had worked hard for the ordination. Thanks for their generosity and support.

Prior to the ordination, the night before was dedicated for a vocation night, organized by the DYA of the parish and Scalabrini Vocation Office for the awareness of the Scalabrinian vocation in the Church. It was held at the Assumption academy of Mawab from 7 to 9 pm. There were more than 200 young students attending the vocation night. In the vocation night, there were the performances from Scalabrinian Seminarians. It was highlighted by the vocation talk about the Scalabrinian charism from Fr. Joseph Bao, CS the vocation director and a talk of Filipino migration from Fr. Roger Manalo, CS. Thanks for the generosity of Dominican Sisters of Most Holy Rosary for the beautiful venue of the event.

The next day, eleventh Sunday in ordinary time, Rev. Fr. Dexter celebrated his first mass at St. Roque Parish. Some Scalabrinian priests concelebrated with him together with some Scalabrinian deacons, brothers, and Seminarians. Attending his first mass was his mother and relatives as well as many parishioners in the parish.

Thanks the Lord for the gift of Scalabrinian vocation in the land of Davao de Oro. May the Lord continue blessing Rev. Fr. Dexter in his new mission to serve God and the migrants.

May the Holy Spirit inspire more young men to heed the call of God to serve the migrants, OFWs, seafarers and refugees around the world.

St. Scalabrini - Pray for us.
