International Day for Women in Maritime!

The Stella Maris Scalabrinian Network celebrates the contributions of women to the maritime industry and recommit Itself to working towards gender equality in the workplace.

The maritime industry is a global industry that plays a vital role in the world economy. 90% of the goods in the world are transported by ship. It is essential for the global supply chain. Yet, the maritime industry is a male-dominated industry. Women make up only 2% of the global maritime workforce.

The Stella Maris Scalabrinian Network campaign #NoShippingNoShopping #ThankYouSeafarers highlights the fact that the maritime industry is essential for our everyday lives. Without the maritime industry, we would not be able to enjoy the goods and services that we take for granted. This campaign also aims to raise awareness of the importance of women in the maritime industry.

The Stella Maris Scalabrinian Network is committed to promoting gender equality in the maritime industry. The network – currently encompasses fourteen Stella Maris centers in America, Europe, Africa, Asia – works to promote the role and significance of women in the maritime industry by supporting them. The network also works to raise awareness of the challenges that women face in the maritime industry by highlighting the importance of gender equality in the workplace.
