Regional Assembly of Scalabrinians in Asia (RASA) 2024

Manila, August 2, 2024.

More than 35 Scalabrinian missionaries working in Asia and 20 Scalabrinian brothers from Scalabrini Theological House of Studies gathered together at Prince Hotel, Ermita, Manila from July 29 – August 2, 2024 for the Regional Assembly of Scalabrinians in Asia (RASA) with the theme: Spirituality of St. Scalabrini & Synodal Community. This is a beautiful moment to review, reflect, and renew the Scalabrinian Spirituality. Fr. Tran Van Thiet, CS and Fr. Edwind Coros, CS are the resource speakers for this inspiring topic. After that, the following days were dedicated to the sharing of the many projects and activities being promoted in the Scalabrinian missions in different countries of Asia, as well as the updates from the different formation houses in the Province of St. Frances Cabrini. The last day was dedicated to discuss about the preparation for the 16th General Chapter, which will be held in Rome in October.

In the Assembly, Fr. Martin Ignacio Gutierrez, CS Provincial Superior gave an update about the life of the SFC Province. The assembly was blessed with the visit of Cardinal Tomas Tomasi, CS, a great missionary and important figure of the Church. The purpose of the RASA is to help the brothers from theological stage to know more about the dynamics of the mission and the life of the SFC Province. Also, it is a precious moment to experience the synodal spirit, to share mission experiences, and to strengthen the bond of brotherhood among the Scalabrinian missionaries in the St. Frances Cabrini Province. At the conclusion of RASA, Fr. Provincial Superior in his homily remarked that “ Marvelous things can happen when we trust in the work of the Holy Spirit…We are not God to judge everyone. Judging one another closes the doors of dialogue. We are brothers, journeying together through the footsteps of St. John Baptist Scalabrini… We are called to share. Sharing not only our achievements but also our failures.

May St. John Baptist Scalabrini intercede for us and all the migrants.”
